Music Censorship

Movement Now!

The only way change can happen is through action, and to take a stand. For too long Censorship has been ruining music for listeners and artists alike. Unlike our friend Mr. Obama here, let's do our best to actually be the best, like his slogan so proudly boasted.

We can begin to make a change by making an effort to fight censorship. This may sound difficult, but there are many ways this can be accomplished. Boycotting censorship by refusing to buy clean albums is a good start. If there are no sales through clean albums, they will not longer be kept in circulation. If we can eliminate clean albums, then perhaps that can make an affect on how they handle explicit albums, and force companies to carry them.

It seems weak, but voicing opinions goes a long way. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is in charge of all censorship in radio play and television. Sending them letters, or starting protests against what they are doing can potentially make a difference. Also, petitioning for a different staff to head the FCC could be a new way to make change. There is a new election every 5 years for the top 4 spots among the board of the FCC. Putting more liberal people in office there could cause a change in the way work is censored.

If there are any new ideas, or way to make change in the music censorship community, please feel free to share thoughts and opinions with the editor of this website. I can be reached through the contact tab at the top, and would love to hear new ideas!
